@Linerberry: Thanks, CC! Believe it or not, I've actually experimented with the tripod in the front seat while driving since then. Probably not safe for highway speeds, but it's doable in the neighborhood!

@Maxine: Thanks, Maxine! I was a bit surprised that he stayed there that long, too. The cooler weather has calmed down the larger birds quite a bit, so they don't fly off unless you get fairly close to them.

@Earnest: Thanks, Ernie. They're such beautiful birds, but their white plumage tends to wash out in a photo, especially on a very sunny day.

@Roman: Thanks, Roman! He was definitely checking me out, too, keeping his eye on me as I eased the car forward.

@Les: Thanks, Les! I took a couple of dozen shots that morning, but this was the only one that came out without any blur in it. I think I can adapt a small tripod I have or perhaps use my monopod to get some more stability in shots like this from the car. I was only able to zoom about 2/3rds of the full length before the shake was too magnified to use
