Leaving You

"So don't keep waiting around for some words to be found
saying "Everything's fair in love, and war." The truth has changed how I see, you look different to me; like you're not who I loved before.
I dreamed it was true, what I saw in you, 'cause that's what a dreamer does.
But the love that I dreamed is not what it seemed,
I guess that it never was
So I will say my good-byes, but not to your eyes, for the one that I loved is gone, somehow.
For without all the lies, without that disguise, you're just a stranger now.
Leaves fall as the trees give up the view,
and lies will fall away, leaving you" - David Wilcox - Leaving You

The lies we tell ourselves are probably more harmful in the long run than the lies others tell us. Trying to see what we want in another person by blinding ourselves to reality doesn't really help either party. Yet we sometimes do these things because these dreams can be more comforting than reality, at least for a time.
