Nacogdoches - The Old Stone Fort

Posted by Eric Fry (Houston, TX, United States) on 21 October 2008 in Architecture.

Built in 1779 by Colonel Antonio Gil Y'Barbo, The Old Stone Fort as it is known today, was a trading post and the gateway from the Early United States to the vast Texas frontier. Also in 1779, Y'Barbo received official designation from the Mexican Government making Nacogdoches the oldest recognized town in Texas. Today, the Old Stone Fort sits in its original location, which is now within the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.

All of the photos in the Nacogdoches series are HDR images.

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you all have a great day,
