Golden Orb Weaver...AgainPosted by Eric Fry (Houston, TX, United States) on 18 October 2008 in Animal & Insect. Nephila clavipes. The web is naturally golden in color. The silk has recently been used in mammalian nerve regeneration experiments; severed neurons will follow the silk back to the site of the injury. The silk is not recognized by the immune system and has antibacterial properties. Pretty cool for a spider!
