I guess the bigger they are the harder they fall. Really uprooted. How are you faring through all of this?

@Marion: Things are getting back to normal in my part of town, Marion, just been very sick this past week. It will be a long time recovering for those on the coast, though. The State was just able to get search teams with cadaver dogs into the Bolivar Peninsula two days ago. The storm surge was so bad in that area that it is believed that many bodies washed across Galveston Bay into another county. It's going to be quite a while before the full death toll is truly known.

sorry you have been sick Eric, hope you are feeling better now! It must be with mixed emotion that you here the news each day, relief you fared as well and deep sadness that others did not, a kind of limbo.The tree damage is something they have allowed for in there evolution process, many seeds etc, but we as humans miss the big trees we have known for years and enjoyed. The park will come right slowly and the change may bring surprises, seedlings that could not germinate through lack of light may well appear.Life can be cruel and harsh, but it always comes up trumps afterwards, treasures unknown to come yet for you and yours Eric !!!

a wonderful shot -- i love the upended tree -- very telling of the wind rage that stormed through the area -- the greens are just enchanting!!!
