Since cooking would be a bit more difficult with the power off, I made this sandwich to have for a few days after the storm hit. One slice was enough food for almost a whole day, but it was so good, I usually had two...

@Marion: That sounds like a great idea, Marion! The brief cool front that arrived just after Ike has dissipated, and we're back to our normal heat and humidity. It will probably be several more days before power is restored in my neighborhood, but many things are getting back to normal.

This has been such a stressful time for everyone here. The anxiety just before and during the storm, and the sense of urgency and tension have taken their toll on many, definitely me. I'm going out to take a few photos this morning to see if I can unwind a bit today.

@Linerberry: ;) Thanks, Liners! I was glad that I could share some of this huge (at least three pounds in weight) sandwich with my friend Barry and his family. They certainly appreciated it!

@Maxine: Trust me, it lasted just long enough. I got the idea from one of Bobby Flay's TV shows; he made it for a party and cut it into sixteenths, which would be perfect for a party setting. I cut it into eighths, and each piece was very filling. Enough calories there to keep me working doing clean-up all day with just a small snack at bedtime (or another piece of the sandwich; a not-so-small snack!) ;)

Alas, only my cooking skills seem to impress the ladies though. They're usually not very interested in my photography or electronics skills (unless they want their computer fixed) :(
