Scenes From a Memory - 4Posted by Eric Fry (Houston, TX, United States) on 10 September 2008 in Architecture. Foster Elementary School. Back when I attended this school the school district had four elementary schools, one intermediate, and one high school. Today, there are twenty-four elementarys, seven intermediates, and five high schools. When we moved out here, the district population began to grow immensely, and temporary buildings were used while I was there, and many of the years since. For me, this was a dreary and miserable experience, as I had come from a private school that allowed me to advance at my own pace. Here, I was forced back into third-grade level classes and materials, after having already advanced to sixth grade material. It seemed pointless to repeat work that I had already mastered just for the sake of pleasing the teachers, and I remained in trouble throughout my time there. In my last year there, I was given an IQ test, as they thought I might be retarded (you think they would have figured something out before the end of three years). The teachers and administrators were astounded when the psychologist told them that I was already far beyond the material they were teaching and was bored out of my mind. The crime is that nothing was ever done for me for the rest of my school career in the district; conformity was more important to them than the needs of individual students. Thanks for visiting, and I hope you all have a great day, Check out the photography of a friend of mine outside of Aminus3:
