Under the BridgePosted by Eric Fry (Houston, TX, United States) on 12 August 2008 in Architecture. I had been taking some sunrise photos at a bridge crossing Lake Houston, and walked underneath it to get back to my car. Another photo of nothing very special, but still very pleasant to me. Thanks for visiting, and I hope you all have a great day, Check out the photography of a friend of mine outside of Aminus3:

maxine from Rangiora, New ZealandNothing very special in whose book?? a successful and unexpectedly pleasant shot. 12 Aug 2008 6:37am @maxine: It is quite a pleasant scene, but the sad thing is that this is the pinnacle of architectural design in my area! It's a heavily wooded suburb, hence all of the insect shots, but buildings consist of strip shopping centers and cookie cutter houses. All of the interesting concrete is about 30 miles away in the heart of Houston. Thank you so much for the compliment, Maxine! saeed from ahwaz, IranIts beautiful! I like that reflections! the light is so proper! lovely shot! well done! 12 Aug 2008 7:12am @saeed: Thank you so much, my friend, it was a very beautiful morning that day. Linerberry from Sumner, Christchurch, New ZealandStill brilliantly taken though Eric! Its great! What reflections and who would have thought that under a bridge could look soooo good!!!! 12 Aug 2008 8:40am @Linerberry: Thanks, Liner! The golden color of the morning sun really changed the scene entirely. @Veronelle: Merci beaucoup, Veronelle! dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, United Statesvery pleasant indeed! what an interesting space -- i might spend a good deal of time here... seems very calming with that shallow river flowing so gently... beautiful... any crocs? 12 Aug 2008 1:24pm @dj.tigersprout: Thanks, DJ! It's a nice spot, but I prefer the park where I take a lot of photos, it's just downstream a bit from this bridge. Very calm and serene in the early morning. And yes, we have a lot of alligators in the river and lake, some up to 9 feet long! At night, you can see hundreds of pairs of eyes glowing yellow in a spotlight. Fortunately, they rarely move about after about 7 am. sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesOne of the most pleasantly colored under the bridge photos I've seen. A lovely capture. 12 Aug 2008 4:14pm Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesI agree, Eric - there is something engaging about the trees seeming to emerge from the massive concrete. 12 Aug 2008 5:54pm @Stephen Phillips: Thanks, Stephen! The early morning light changed this into a nice scene of green and golds. At this time of day, it would be a nice place to sit and fish for a while. paulski from Muncie, IN, United Statessometimes those "not very special" images make the best photos. exceptional... 12 Aug 2008 5:56pm Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaIt is beautiful and peaceful looking. Great color and composition. 12 Aug 2008 6:34pm Earnest from Oklahoma, United StatesIt is indeed a very pleasant photo.. and it REALLY makes me smile to think I'm not traveling those wide lanes anymore! 12 Aug 2008 7:55pm @Earnest: Hahahaaaa...I'm with you, Earnest! I can't wait until I can get moved into the country around Dallas, in some big sky country, away from the traffic... lisa v from Gawler, AustraliaUnder a bridge is always another world entirely, which feels entirely different to the one above, as you can see in your photo. 12 Aug 2008 10:15pm Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomNothing very special...? It's a brilliant photo Eric, the immense strength of the pillars, the reflection in the clear water, and of course the sunlight. (a perfect B&W) ! you have mail 12 Aug 2008 10:22pm @Observing: Thanks, Mike! I probably should have said that the bridge was nothing special. The morning light makes a world of difference. (BTW, I already have a B&W of the same bridge posted for tomorrow!) willow from Chelsea, United StatesI love how you are finding so much beauty in what we usually think of as the so very ordinary. The lighting makes this one special. 13 Aug 2008 2:20am |
