Shattered Dreams 2 - Flags for the Fallen

These young ladies had been at a party to celebrate the end of school and were heading to a local coffee shop around 7 pm. Alcohol was not involved, only speeding.

The day after this accident was Memorial Day here in the U.S.A., where we commemorate our soldiers who have fallen in wartime. Flags are a common sight on that day, but they are a bittersweet scene here.

@debra: Thank you, Debra. I've tried to present these in as sensitive a way as I possibly could. I felt that these shots were too powerful to not post here, but at the same time, I imagined how the girl's parents might feel were they to see this series. Barry's wife alleviated my concern after looking through it and saying that she felt it was done very respectfully.

In perusing your archives, I came across this series. You have created a touching memorial to these young people and you've done so in a very respectful manner. What a strange set of circumstances (coincidence?) that I stumbled upon your blog yesterday and now this series today, as I lost my stepdaughter on Memorial Day weekend 3 years ago. Yes, it's so very important to tell those whom you love what they mean you while you still can. I'm forever grateful that I was able to.
