This juvenile horsefly photo came out so well that Barry exclaimed, "Earnest is going to love this one!"

@pierre: Hahaha...This is one of the more benign monsters we have here in Houston! These things love to pester my bald head when I'm out on a shoot. But I'd rather deal with these things than the chiggers that live in Earnest's woods...;)

Thank to everyone for all of the great compliments! Barry and I were out in a local nature area, and I had the chance to catch this photo while he was looking at something else. I was able to snap two frame before it flew away.

I heard everything is bigger in Texas, but this takes the cake. This guy looks like he's on steroids! He looks like he could pick up my Labrador Retriever and fly off with her (much to my wife's joy sometimes, I might add). This image is tack sharp. Excellent capture.
