@Fotoptikon: I use a Nikon P5100. It's a point and shoot with some control over aperture, shutter, ISO, etc. I just used it in the macro mode that is in the camera's programming, it allows me to focus at a distance of 1.9 cm.

Thank you all very much for the nice comments. The real truth behind this shot is that this bumblebee seemed to be in a state of suspended animation. It was crawling at a painfully slow rate, while many other bumblebees were buzzing all about. The next day when I returned, it was still there, just about a foot and a half down the branch...
I'm not sure what was wrong with him, but it made a great subject, and I wasn't willing to poke it to see if it would fly!
